| One of the keys to providing the best services for children with Additional Learning Needs is for schools and parents to work in partnership together. For teachers this may require the acquisition of new skills in order to enhance partnership working. The authority has produced guidelines for schools to enhance these skills and run training courses for school staff.

For parents they will need to understand their rights, roles and responsibilities within the SEN process and the services available to them. A series of leaflets has been produced to provide information for parents about the support and help that is available from outside agencies, schools and parent partnership organisation.
The authority has also established a parent forum which meets regularly with the local authority to discuss and exchange information on a range of issues around the provision of support for children with children with additional learning needs.
